Actually, it is too good a deal for some, and maybe not good enough for others. This is a very nice recap of how we got to subscription models and the need to sustain content creation. But in this digital age of mass-customization, why the one price fits all model?! I commented on that when Medium announced subscriptions, and have written a blog and a book about how to personalize pricing in a win-win way.
